Amber RubarthGood Mystery
Whimsical, charming indie-pop, full of hooks and humor; Rubarth earned first prize in an international songwriting competition judged by Tom Waits, Brian Wilson, and The Cure's Robert Smith-so if you don't believe me, trust them.

Ruth GersonThis Can't Be My Life (Wrong Records) Edgy, piano driven alt-rock with a voice like Joan Osborne/Sheryl Crow. "I want you to be happy, but not with me." Heh. Right on. Gerson's lyrics are defiant, vulnerable, and raw; she had me digging for the razor blades and kerosene. |

Sunshine CollectiveWanna Play? (Mystefire Records) Quirky and shockingly upbeat, this relentlessly cute duo makes nostalgia endearing with their alternative beach-pop/Americana debut. They make Mr. Rogers seem curmudgeonly. |

NareeDr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde This CD is one of the reasons I started this feature. Sharp and shiny pop rock with a ton of hooks and high energy, this short promo album is astonishingly polished for a young group. And then I read Naree's bio, and was even more impressed. |

More to come...
Lyn

Of the dozens of CDs that cross my desk monthly (a mere fraction of what we receive at Caught in the Carousel), I get to listen to a lot of great music. Unfortunately, between my day job and my triathlon schedule, a lot of what I like doesn't make it off my desk in a timely manner. I don't want to see good music get washed away by the incoming tide of the next month, and the next, and so here are the shiniest shells, rescued from the surf. I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I have.
