Letter from the Editor - August 2007

By Alex Green

We got a really nice letter last week from a reader in Sweden who remarked about our Jazz Butcher interview: “You guys really brought it this time.” I was pleased by this comment, of course, but any Editor will tell you that the challenge of their job is to keep bringing it. And I think it’s fair to say that for the August issue, it has been brought. Here’s why:

**David Porter got a chance to sit down with Rocco DeLuca and he got Rocco to fill out a top ten list for our Consummate Top Ten. The theme this month? Top Ten Albums To Lick Your Wounds By.

**David Porter was kept pretty busy by CITC this month—not only did he skip out of work to see Red Molly at Battery Park Plaza in New York, he took photos of the show (the very ones you’ll see in the article) and he interviewed the band as well. He also got them to give us a free downloadable MP3 of their song “Long Island Cowboy” for your listening pleasure.

**Due to popular demand, we’ll be continuing to run our interview with The Jazz Butcher!! Thank you for your overwhelming response to our piece with Mr. Fish.

**Our crack staff came together and wrote an astounding 16 new album reviews. Check out our write-ups of albums by Portugal. The Man, Uncut, Brandi Shearer, New Idea Society and more! Also, we’ve got three expanded album reviews that come with brief interviews with the artists. Jessica Simons sits down with Terra Diablo, Katie Cleland hangs out with Polly Paulsuma and Alex Mattraw chats with Mammut.

**Yes, that’s a new picture of me. The staff calls it a “Screenful of Handsome”.

I know they’re being sarcastic, but I love them anyway.

**We have a new logo!! Thanks to our friend Jesse Michaels (Operation Ivy/Common Rider) we now have a great new CITC image that features two shadowy figures either falling in love or falling right out. It’s hard to tell….

Either way, we’re crazy about it and thank him kindly for the gesture.

It’s quite an issue. Next month?

A few surprises, my friends, so consider the lid on until then.

In the meantime, do check out our MYSPACE page: www.myspace.com/caughtinthecarousel

Go see “Introducing The Dwights,” buy the new Thrills album, and don’t support athletes who kill dogs.

Love and Rockets,
