FREEWAYS ON FIRE
Letter from the Editor - August 2010**After a CITC staff meeting I told the Vinyl Princess I was going to see the sequel to “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.” “What’s it called?” she asked. “The Girl Who Removes The Dragon Tattoo?” **In stores soon is Shakira’s new fragrance called “The Hips Don’t Lie.” In a related story, Kei$ha also has a new fragrance called “Last Night’s DNA Don’t Lie.” **Some experts have come to the conclusion that Cuba had nothing to do with the Kennedy assassination. Cuba Gooding Jr., however, has not been cleared. **The problem with new SYFY shows like “Haven” and “Eurkea” and “Warehouse 13”? **Here’s a reason to celebrate: Augie March frontman Glenn Richards is putting the finishing touches on his first solo album. He writes: “ We set up in a warehouse the size of a skating rink, rehearsed and recorded 19 songs over a month, although with the many technical hitches I can safely say we probably did 19 in 19. A fair achievement and not without cost to health and sanity. I'm in the middle of vocals now and it feels like there's an electric razor shaving the inside of my neck, and I can't remember ever swearing so much when I'm talking to myself on the street. It's rough and ready but not without ambition and some finesse. Like most of the Augie stuff it ain't hip, but I hope it's got some legs to out-stroll the sprinting ninnies on Cool Street.” CITC’s excited about The Gaslight Anthem and Arcade Fire and the forthcoming Fleet Foxes, but our money is on this one to put them all to shame. **Caught In The Carousel at home:
