Letter from the Editor - October 2007

By Alex Green

Our mailbox was flooded with mail this week (not the snail mail location—we use that box now for cookies only) from CITC readers all over the world (Rock on, Brussels!) asking if that was indeed me on Sirius Satellite Radio guest-hosting the E-Street radio show.

It was.

I was asked by Sirius to step in on October 4th to play my favorite Springsteen cuts, tell a few stories and be as charming as possible.

Here were my five favorites:
Thunder Road
Candy’s Room
Sherry Darling
Jungleland
Adam Raised A Cain

One of my stories involved me getting kicked out of Biology in high school when my teacher said, “The skin is the largest organ in the human body,” and I said, “Well, maybe for you it is.” And then instead of going to the principal’s office, I went to my car and played “Jungleland” for two hours.

That kind of thing.

Was I charming? Let me just say this: you tell me.

So…October, you ask? It’s a big one.

Inside of this month’s CAUGHT IN THE CAROUSEL we’ve got Delirious director Tom DiCillo—in his ONLY Bay Area press—speaking candidly about his new film, which stars Steve Buscemi and Michael Pitt. DiCillo (Box of Moonlight, Living In Oblivion) speaks to CITC about his new movie at length and then tells us the dark truth about the movie business. It’s one of our all-time favorite interviews.

Former Poi Dog Pondering member, the lovely and talented and Grammy Award-nominated Abra Moore participates in this month’s CITC Consummate Top Ten. Her topic? Top Ten Favorite Billie Holiday songs.

New album reviews!! Pete Yorn, The Condors, Robert Hazard, Pash, Michael McDermott….

And now for the rumors:
Yes, we have a one-eyed cat that we let sleep in the office at night.

No, we have nothing to do with the site www.caughtinarousal.com. Totally different thing…

Yes, we’ve got an interview with Phil Wilson of the June Brides for next month.

No, we didn’t think that guy from the Rockies was safe. Missed home plate by a lot…

Yes, we think it’s no longer possible for anyone to rock Brett Michaels’ world. You do the math.

Comments? We’d love them: alex670@earthlink.net
