Letter from the Editor - October 2008

Last month we received more mail from our readers than we ever have. Normally we get a good-sized batch, but this past issue yielded a really impressive stockpile. We've got our staff working on answering them all, but I thought I'd answer a few here in a public kind of way, just for fun.

Here we go:

Dear Editor,

I've noticed that most of the Carousel staff are women. Is this because women are better organized than men?

Nancy Wigget
New York, New York

Dear Nancy,
Correct absolutely you are. Doubt no it about.

Dear Editor,

Alex, I think I remember you when you were a DJ at KVHS in Concord, California. There was some kind of weird live remote promotion thing where you had to run across the parking lot of a shopping center wearing nothing but a Speedo and holding a stuffed rabbit. Was that you?

Tony Lapenti
Pleasant Hill, California

No, Tony that was absolutely not me.
P.S. It was a stuffed bear.

Dear Editor,

Lyn Dunagan designs the site and she writes for you? What kind of a taskmaster are you?

Katie Gunnerson
Portland, Oregon

Are you kidding me? Lyn Dunagan is a triathlete. She can run and swim and bike at high-powered speeds. In the same day! And, to be fair, she does more for CITC than just two things—the fact is, without her we would just be a Page Not Found.

Dear Editor,

What's on your IPOD right now?

Theresa Kuiper
Vancouver, Canada

My cat.

Dear Editor,

What's your favorite thing about MTV?

Those fleeting three minutes per day when they actually play videos.

Dear Editor,

I delivered a pizza last week to your office and saw that by Alex's desk he has a dictionary on a table in front of a mirror. What's that about?

Peter Franklin
Berkeley, California

That's so whenever I look up a word I can smile into the mirror and say, "That's what I thought…"

We also got a lot of letters asking about Our Daily Bread, which is the film I've been hired as the Music Supervisor for. A romantic comedy written by Yvonne Prinz the movie is set to be shot in Canada in the spring of 2009. I've already read the script, which is brilliant, and I've started compiling hundreds of possible songs for inclusion on the soundtrack. If you're a musician and would like to submit a track for consideration, please don't hesitate to contact me. The candidates so far are both moody and rootsy, but that certainly isn't a requirement. I do know that I need two female rap songs for two specific scenes, but other than that, anything goes.

Please submit by mail or email:

Next month's issue is already being worked on by our crack staff. I just stand on the desk and marvel at their speed, their stamina, their scholarship and their ability to concentrate while watching Iron Chef.

Tonight's secret ingredient?
Honey.

Our secret ingredient next month?

You'll see….

Enjoy!
