Letter from the Editor - September 2007

By Alex Green

Although the back half of August turned into an infernal endurance test, we persevered and, employing as many cold showers, cold drinks and cold thoughts as we could muster (my most recent: Putting on a Speedo and traversing the Arctic tundra with a talking fox for a sidekick. And Heidi Klum…) we’re proud to bring you our September issue.

What’s inside?

Very kind of you to ask.

**San Francisco’s Magic Bullets grace this month’s cover and willingly participate in our Consummate Top 10. The theme this time: Top 10 Albums That We Might Put On When We Stay In On A Friday Night. Check it out—it’s a terrific list.

**Daniel Galleno returns with a feature on OurStage, an interactive Web site as well as fan-favorite, musician Rav Shmuel.

**We’ve got 10 new album reviews, including The Derailers, Matt Pond PA, The Phantom Family Halo, Placebo and Lay Low.

**Love Tractor’s Mike Richmond has joined the CITC staff and we couldn’t be more pleased. Check out his wonderful review of The Phantom Family Halo’s new long player.

**Staff writers Vanessa Arce and Tim White ventured into the night to check out Sonic Youth and the English Beat, respectively. Vanessa watched Sonic Youth play their classic 1988 album Daydream Nation in its entirety, while Tim White tracked down The English Beat at the Ironstone Vineyards.

**We have a new logo!! And, to show off that logo in the most commercial way possible, CITC is now adorning shirts, sweatshirts, coffee mugs and teddy bears. Don’t believe us? Then check out our new store here. And there are plenty more variations to come.

**Next Month: We’re delighted to announce that October will feature a wonderful interview with Phil Wilson of The June Brides. Though his legendary band is defunct, Phil was kind enough to have a chat with CITC and talk about the new material he’s been working on as well as taking us back to the days of the ‘Brides. Trust me, it’s a great one.

**In the meantime, do check out our MYSPACE page:

**Go see “This Is England”—I think it’s the best movie of the year.

And after hearing a sneak peek of four new Music Lovers songs, thanks to singer Matthew Edwards’ clandestine hand-off at dinner, I think the S.F. band’s new album is going to blow your mind. And congratulations to our very own Yvonne Prinz, who just completed writing her fifth novel The Vinyl Princess. And like her other four novels, this one is fabulous.
