FREEWAYS ON FIRE

Letter from the Editor - September 2010

**What did I think about Roger Federer making 80 unforced errors at the U.S. Open while his pal Gavin Rossdale looked on? I think that Federer needs to work on his consistency. And his taste in music.

**Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, who is nothing less than fetching, caught the attention of my friend who, now in his early forties said: "If it was 15 years ago and I had a drum machine, I could write the dirtiest raps about her."

**Because pretty much everything rhymes with "Wozniacki."

**Jack White and his label Third Man Records are single-handedly saving music. His new invention is the Triple Decker Record, an innovation that quite literally offers a rebirth of the seven-inch single. All you have to do is cut open the Dead Weather's new twelve inch single "Blue Blood Blues" and tucked inside you'll find an exclusive seven-inch version of the song. It's an absolutely genius reboot of a classic and treasured format.

**Caught In The Carousel at home:

  1. Stars-The Five Ghosts
  2. The Gaslight Anthem-American Slang
  3. The Posies-In The Music
  4. Fran Healy-Red Flowers
  5. The Waterboys-This Is The Sea

**Farewell! A word that must be and hath been:

Mike Edwards (E.L.O.)
