ALBUM REVIEW

7 Months Later

Time to Decide
Envision Music

7 Months Later

Let's get this out of the way right up front—all the members of 7 Months Later are under 20 years old. As with anything, there are advantages and disadvantages to a band being so young and they are all on display in the album Time to Decide. It's a decent album that readily displays their talent and potential, but overall it lacks any complexity or depth. Opening with the catchy and powerful "Outlines" this Orlando-based foursome, fronted by lead singer Chris Ganoudis, shows what talent and youth can accomplish. There are several tracks like this, including "Faster, Faster" and "Disengage," which are well produced and engaging; in fact, Time to Decide is full of hooks. The trouble is they sound like about a dozen other bands out there (think Dashboard Confessional or Blink 182). The entire album is radio friendly, but it comes without a single track that really stands out as anything approaching a signature sound. That's not to say it's a bad album, it's very easy to listen to but I kept finding myself at the end of the album without realizing it. Nothing made me sit up and take notice.

The members of 7 Months Later are clearly talented and have the passion of youth on their side. With time and experience they have the potential to become a truly great band and hopefully, find their own voice.
