Amy Lennard
I Need to Love
Hold Your Own Records

Modern-country influences are deep throughout Amy Lennard’s I Need to Love. Think Lucinda Williams meets early Melissa Etheridge, and you’ve got a nicely-produced package of universal stories about envy, bad love, heartbreak, and letting go.
Lennard drew extensively from her personal life for I Need to Love, and she crafted a few terrific songs, especially “Forever Tonight,” “I Can’t Change You,” “Broken,” “El Paso,” and “Dream.” Unfortunately, Lennard’s limited vocal range detracts from an otherwise well-balanced album. Within her range, she sounds fine, but at times it’s like listening to Kim Carnes after a three-pack-a-day binge.
