Queens Live In Caskets
Monotreme Records

Copy Aaron Stouts debut album Queens Live In Caskets into iTunes
and youll find it labeled as folk. And while all genres are limiting
to a certain extent, this one in particular does not do the album justice.
Sure there are songs that qualify as typical folk, like the beautiful
To Prague And Back with its simple acoustic sound and delicate
vocals. Both the steady Space Station and the calming Lightspeed
have that scratchy, recorded-at-home feel to them. However, Lightspeeds
trippy intro fits with songs such as the Muse-like The Coronation
and the brilliant Story of My Life. The latter of which
is reminiscent of Becks work, circa Odelay. That isnt the
only song channeling Beck hereStout seamlessly mixes different musical
styles on songs like the psychedelic country of Talk Out of Town
and the out-of- this-world The Ballad of Curtis Jones. The
variety pays off on this album, providing a truly intriguing collection
for the listener.
