ALBUM REVIEW

Active Child

You Are All I See
Vagrant

Active Child

Perhaps it's the use of the harp that gives such an ethereal quality to Active Child's debut album, You Are All I See. Pat Grossi's soaring falsetto, gorgeous harmonies and layered melodies make this a must-hear album. The best songs are also the most danceable, including the synth-happy "Hanging On" and the catchy "Playing House." The edgier "Way Too Fast" has an ominous feel to it that builds to a fevered intensity. It may be the synth-heavy sound, but the album has an 80's fantasy film vibe, particularly noticeable in tracks such as the dramatic "High Priestess," the darker "Ancient Eye," and the fittingly-titled "Shield & Sword." Overall, a brilliant debut.
