The Condors

Wait for It
Rankoutsider Records

The Condors

Wait for It, the second release from The Condors, serves up a 12-course meal of west coast punk flavored by The Ramones, The Replacements and a dash of Green Day. Its tracks create a simmering stewpot of frustration and desire and should come with a warning label: “May cause spontaneous dancing.”

The Condors is fronted by Pat DiPuccio, who was once part of Blow Up, a local L.A. band that gigged regularly at the Palace, the Roxy, and the Whiskey-a-Go-Go. He and the rest of the Condors whip that DIY SoCal punk sound into a froth from the opening track, “Waiting Half The Night” to the closer, “Wake Up.” “Don’t Want A Girl Who’s Been With Jack” has been getting scattered airplay around the country, but it happens to be my least favorite song on the CD. Were I the queen of all radio programming, I would choose any of a half-dozen better tracks, starting with “Waiting Half the Night.” Other tasty delights include “Don’t Talk About Love,” the horn-infused “Set Me On Fire,” “Kiss That Girl Away,” and “She’s Not the Girl for Me.”

The Condors sound like a tight club band ready to break out of the smog and the haze into a wider world and bigger audiences. Wait For It sparks with emotion, and The Condors fuel the boil with nonstop stomp. Red Bull should provide tour support.
