ALBUM REVIEW

Daniela and Ben Spector

Love Is
Tunes Factory

Daniela and Ben Spector

Daniela Spector's voice is a clear selling point on Daniela and Ben Spector's album, Love Is. Her vocals hold everything together on tracks like the distant "Dreaming Like" which morphs into a more guitar-heavy sound. Her voice soars on the stunning ballad "Life Long Odyssey," while the beautiful harmonizing of Daniela and M. Jack Bee carries the simplistic electric-folk of "Cut It Out." The upbeat, dance-friendly "I Feel Love" is the highlight of the album. The title track "Love Is" is synth-heavy with an ominous feel to it and the bizarre robotic-sounding vocals initially sound slightly ridiculous, but grow on you by the end of the song. They change directions with the soothingly acoustic "Mother and Sun" and the gorgeous "Far Away." Unlike the rest of the album, their last track "HOME" is relatively simple with just an acoustic guitar and piano, allowing you to focus on Daniela's marvelous voice. That alone makes this album worth a listen.
