ALBUM REVIEW

Relationsh+t

iDolphin

Relationsh+t is aggressively quirky, with deeply funny, snarky lyrics set to Euro-pop-electronica. Lead vocalist Rosee may look like Audrey Hepburn, but she sings like Nina Hagen with a French accent. The album starts off with "Curtain," an absolutely rave-worthy instrumental, but quickly slows into cheerful eccentricity. Tracks like "Relasionsh+t" ("I spend all my time trying / To not cheat on you") and "Absolut Friends" ("I have so many friends / when there is vodka in my freezer") are sharply witty, whereas "Wings" and "Laminated Dreams" are more whimsical. "Cyber Love," "Obsessive Compulsive Love Disorder," and "Pop 'n Roll" are defiantly scornful. The earworm of the CD has to be "Sitzen Macht Popo," an absurdly funny track that dissolves into giggles. Relationsh+t isn't really much of a dance album, but it's definitely appealing.
