Metric
Fantasies
02. Records

There's nothing like finding a good album to dance to and that's exactly what you get, listening to Metric's latest, Fantasies. The slamming beats combined with Emily Haines' hard-edged vocals make it impossible to sit still. It starts off with the insanely catchy "Help I'm Alive," which sets the tone for the entire album. Haines's voice carries over the roar of the guitars in the driving "Satellite Mind," while the bizarrely titled "Gold Guns Girls" carries you along at a fast pace. With a softer-edge than the other songs, the beautiful "Collect Call" keeps you moving, but allows you to catch your breath before going back to craziness. And you can't help but go crazy for the harder, darker sound of "Blindness" and "Front Row." Likewise, the heavily distorted "Stadium Love" reflects a brilliant intensity, ending the album on a strong note. With songs like these, this album stands up well against their previous work. Metric continues to impress, and one can look forward to their future. In the meantime, put on Fantasies, let go and dance.
