Pocket

Rechristening himself as Pocket, former Burnside Project frontman Richard Jankovich's professional reinvention is nothing short of inspired. Jankovich's reputation is so well respected, it's no surprise that he was able to recruit a roll call that includes Robyn Hitchcock, Steve Kilbey (The Church) and Dave Smalley (Dag Nasty/Down By Law). Surround Him With Love" with Hitchcock is a heaving little disco number; "Hear In Noiseville" with Kilbey is a percussive charmer and "Sampo," which features Yuki Chikudate from Asobi Seksu is siren-like electronica. Meanwhile, Smalley's energizing turn on "Beautiful Gray" is one of the collection's finest moments. The back end of all this is loaded with remixes of the aforementioned tracks as well as b-sides featuring Shonali Bhowmik (Tigers And Monkeys), Loraine Lelis (Mahogany/Somnambulists) and Kimi Recor of Lilofee.
