ALBUM REVIEW

Reagan Browne

Daydreams in Stereo
Independent

Reagan Browne

Despite being riddled with clichés, Reagan Browne's Daydreams in Stereo is a decent road-trip CD. Browne hits the power rock spectrum at a point between Pearl Jam and American Idol's Bo Bice, and there are several good vignettes from the eleven tracks: "Goodbye LA," "Alright," and "Scream" stomp with distortion and Browne's close-harmony vocals. "Daydreams in Stereo" is a melodic instrumental that segues into "It Doesn't Have To Be This Way." "Scream" has a hot intro, with a riff that reminds me of Joe Satriani's "Surfing with the Alien." There are several little stories in Daydreams in Stereo, like "It Doesn't Have To Be This Way," about several people's Very Bad Days. And because everybody needs a vampire song, "Last Forever" thunders about immortal love, with the added bonus of sounding like Steve Walsh, the lead singer for the 70's Christian proggers, Kansas. Oh, the irony. As for "Watch My World Explode"...sorry, just skip that one. The rest of the album is pretty addictive. Browne writes interesting hooks; he'll be interesting to watch in the future.
