Socialist Leisure Party
She Will Flame
Pebble Records

A ballsy, fuzzed-up return for Brighton's Socialist Leisure Party, led by Andy Hitchcock of former Sarah Records artistes, Action Painting! 7" number 3 sees them stripped down to a trio, with Andy's razor-sharp Rickenbacker pushed to the forefront of the mix on both sides. The latest recruit is Jim Randal on drums, formerly known as Lolita Storm's Jimmy Too Bad. His consistent drum roll on "Blondine" on the B-side, is reminiscent of Love's "7&7 Is," creating a charging snare assault, which also keeps the rhythmic element nice and tight. Both sides capture a punkier and more live feel than the previous singles, providing a fresher backdrop for Hitchcock's unique song-writing style and energetic vocals.
