Who Shot Hollywood

Springtime in Greenland
Independent

Who Shot Hollywood

It was quite a shock midway through a first listen to Who Shot Hollywood's Springtime in Greenland to find out the oldest band-member was 14 years old. They do sound young, but not that young. You might imagine the band's probably sick of hearing about their age, but it puts a certain perspective on their music. Not quite excusing the flaws, but maybe it shows a band in the midst of trying to find itself. Lead singer and bassist Lucas Kendall's voice is imperfect and slightly off-key at times, but it works on songs such as the driving "An Evening of Classical With The Masters" and the slamming "Sue The Garage." The highlights of the album are the catchy "Psychic Surprise" and 80's-channeling "The Yoga." Both songs show the band's ability to combine intriguing lyrics with their danceable power pop sound. Springtime in Greenland is a musically tight and impressive debut by a band which, from the sound of it, will only get better with age.
